merfilly gave me C for Chock Full O'Nuts.
1. Conan the Barbarian. - For me he's one of the first "fantasy" movie characters and comic book characters I remember. I think Arnold made a perfect Conan and yes, the movies might have been cheesy to some I really like them. A lot of modern movies take snippets and ideas from this series of movies which always amuses me. The character itself is a force fighting the evil that manifests most often as a sorcerer and has this good conquers all feeling even if Conan isn't necessarily a good character always.
2. Cat in the Hat. -Who hasn't grown up with him? The main purpose of the cat was to teach us disobedience and mischief would get us in trouble but if we were really fast we could clean it up before our parents got home. Honestly, that's what he taught me in the Cat in the Hat.
3. Cronenberg - Here we go with the obscure characters. The doctor from Escape from New York and possibly the only uncorrupted character in the whole movie. He is a doctor working for the police force on methods to control criminals that would be less barbaric than the castration and prison they have. From the movie and the book we learn that Cronenberg doesn't want to use the explosives and he doesn't believe it is right that Snake is lied to or has the explosives used as a manipulation tool. He still has the doctor morals which is more than anyone else around him has. It makes him a very interesting character given the tone of everyone else in the movie.
4. Cujo. - A friendly, loving St. Bernard bitten by a rabid bat and goes crazy. Cujo is one of those horror characters that is so close to realism that it hits the instinct to be afraid for real reasons. Sure it is blown out of proportions but I think next to Randall Flag and Christine, Cujo is probably the best and most terrifying of Steven King's characters. In some ways more terrifying though due to realism. This could be your dog. That is scary.
5. Catwoman. - One of my all time favorite characters and certainly my favorite Batman characters. There are some interesting aspects to Catwoman that I've always wondered about. For example, cats breathe life back into her after her fall while most myths are about cats sucking your breath out while you sleep. She's a dynamic character filled with passion, love, lust, greed, etc. Of all the Batman characters she seems to be the most versatile and her morals fluctuate from villain to vigilante. I love that aspect of her.
