Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Come Pollinate me.

I just got back from WHHS.  I went in today even though our first workday isn't until Monday.  I have TOO much to do to wait until the first official day back.  We have mandatory meetings for the first two days which don't allow us to be in our rooms working.  The third day starts open house.  My room has too much stuff messed up from summer janitor cleaning for me to wait.  So I got a lot of stuff done today.  Heather and Gannon (yearbook girls) came in and helped me today.  We did SO much, and my room still isn't ready.  I won't go in tomorrow.  I will wait to finish.  It was so good to see friendly faces.  I missed people so much.

It already started.  Every year at least two parents try to get my fired/complain.  A parent already tried to get me in trouble this summer by calling Mr. Wright to tell him I shouldn't be Teacher of the Year because I have tattoos.  He told me that the parent wouldn't give her name, and that that pissed him off, but not to worry.  I just have to continue being professional at work.  Apparently a parent saw a default myspace picture of mine (my page is otherwise private) and didn't like that my rib tattoo was showing.  It was just a close up of my ribs; that's it.  So Mr. Wright looked at it (on the day the parent called) and saw nothing wrong with it.  He just asked that I not make my default pictures on Myspace of my tattoos since parents are looking for excuses to complain.  I reminded him that my page is private and admited to having some students on it (yearbookers and MY students, not random ones).  He saw nothing wrong with that, and I agreed no more tattoo defaults.  Fair enough.  And he ended the conversation by saying he was proud to have me represent WHHS as its Teacher of the Year.  Woot!

I took my three yearbook girls on our yearbook workshop beach trip August 10-12.  We went to Atlantic Beach and had a blast.  We also learned tons of new things for this year's book.  We got some great new ideas, layouts, topics to cover...our cover has been officially designed as well.  We got Subway to buy the back cover for $1,500, and it goes with our Fresh theme.  So that is awesome!  We also took pictures on the beach, ate at a fun seafood restaurant, sang in the car, laughed a lot, stayed up late goofing off, played in the Wii tournament with other yearbooks from other schools, and went to the aquarium.  It was so much fun, and we got so much done for the 2010 yearbook.  Oh, we also won a good chunk of money to help pay for a sweet World Beat coverage for the book (16 of current events/pop culture made by Jostens and sewn in the book for free).  It's normally very expensive, so we don't get it.  Wooot!  We rock.

My second lip piercing healed up just fine.  I wore it to work today at WHHS because no one would really be there.  Mr. Wright didn't mind at all, whew.  Good thing.

I think I'm working at Hallmark tomorrow.  I'm not sure.  It's been a great summer working there.  I love working in the back with Joe and Jeffery.  It's been a good summer even though I worked a lot.

Welp.  I am peacing out.
