Princep’s Fury by Jim Butcher
Rating: 8/10

NGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!  I finally finished it.

And, um, the bromance.  So intense, I love it.  I would kill for a pre-series fic, I really would.  Epic battle scenes were epic, very exciting, considering that I don’t usually enjoy long descriptions like that, but HOLY COW, GAIUS.  Way to go!  WHOO!  Yeah.  YEAH.

Okay, one of the things I love most about this series is that everything is so simplistically *clever*.  It makes sense.  Tavi doesn’t rely on magic and often finds the solutions in an, “Oh, duh!” way.  In all the mists of the war, political problems, he opts for the practical solution.  It makes him a likable main character.

-    Kitai and the Vord Queens: I foresee a switch coming.
-    I still hated reading Amara and Bernard’s parts.  So romatically gushy and ugh, I didn’t like it.  Not even the collared thing surprised me as much as it should.
-    Speaking of surprises, nothing BIG happened, character-wise, aside from Gaius’ death, which was pretty much foreshadowed every ten pages.   I’m glad, because as I’ve said, the massive awesomess of the battles made up for it.
-    CANIM AND ALEREANS FIGHTING TOGETHER IS SO COOL.  I almost wished that Vord Queen joined Tavi because, omfg, that would be EPIC.
-    Attis being one of Septimus’ BFFs?  OMG.  DO WANT.  He called him “Sep” and I nearly burst in squees.  Omg, and Antillus was awesome, the whole gang was.  Septimus’ letters almost made me cry.  With glee.  Geez, the manly bonding gets to me.
-    ALDRICK WAS MENTIONED.  WE MUST GET TO HIS STORY.  WE MUST, WE MUST, WE MUST.
-    No Demos and Ehren being together.  Not even offscreen.  :C
-    Ehren was adorable, and served as a great POV.   :>
-    Demos saaaaaaaved Tavi.  :B
-    I totally want more Max/Crassus interactions.  They’ve got small bits all around, but it’s those little details, like giving each other a hug, or just the stuff they say… Oh, man.  Such a lovely brother-relationship.  <3
-    On the Icemen.  I’m glad that issue was resolved quickly.  The fire-crafting explaintion might have been a little lame, but I wasn’t bothered by it.  It makes sense, at any rate.  Vord more important.
-    Isana said something about the High Lords about their emotions being so “petty” or small, not on a grander scale as the consequences of their actions deserved… I thought it was very well put.  I think I may start liking Isana now.
-    Okay, I don’t know if it is me, or Jim Butcher, but I felt really awkward reading some of his long “romantic” dialogue, especially with Tavi and Kitai.  I get the point of the whole scene, and I admit, the whole thing was very sweet, but I dunno.  Weird.  :/
-    And last, but not least, OHHHHHHH THE ULTIMATE FURY ALERA.  :O

I can’t believe I have to wait another year for the next book.  It’s seriously taking a toll because I think I’m losing interest, and it scares me.  I’ll just reread the whole series.  That usually helps, lol.

THE NEXT BOOK TITLE IS SO PREDICTABLE.

BUT WHY I'M I SO EXCITED???????

AND WHY IS THERE NO FANDOM FOR THIS SERIES?  I mean, I enjoy the meta, and the official boards but C’MON.  FANART AND FANFIC PLZ.  Earth-crafting can make so many smut fics, at least. >___>;;

(Now I'm heading off to read the CA Yuletide fic, even though it's about Amara.  :D )

codex alera, geek out
