Watched this on dvd the other morning in my sickbed. The two gay leads were very nice, I must say, and there were some lovely scenes with them. I love how Italian families seem to be; although I'm sure it must be quite stifling at times, they are wonderfully family-oriented. The sister was great, and her reaction upon finding the lads together was wonderful! Her small psychiatrist sub-plot was fun too.
Angelo (the lead) could get a bit annoying, but I really felt for him when the whole 'coming out to his parents' thing went wrong and the parents conspired to try matching him and his boyfriend Nino with girls and he ended up yelling all sorts of hurtful things at his mother... (although it was definitely a bit much, he did apologise later). I'm trying not to give away too much of the story here, but it was not a good moment for him and you could appreciate his hurt.
Okay, without letting this get too long... I love the way it ended; loved his parents for their eventual acceptance and his moving on with life and actually doing what he dreamed of doing with it all along - and having it work! And oh, of course, did I say, him getting his 'happily ever after'? I did feel sorry for Nino and the person he ended up with especially, but they chose that life in the end, and I guess they were only doing what they thought was a good thing for each of them. You could see heartbreak coming at some point in the future though.
All in all, I enjoyed it a lot. Some wonderfully funny moments, bits of anguish and pain, and a nice way to end too. I love a good Canadian movie. Oh, and Paul Sorvino was a terrific Italian Father!
