A busy couple of weeks...

So it is th evening before Thanksgiving - I have a pumpkin pie and 18 cupcake papers with batter only (my wife has Celiac disease and cannot have anything with wheat, oats, rye or barley to eat) in the oven and the house smells WONDERFUL!!! She has some gluten-free tart-cups that I'll put the pumpkin batter in after it cooks.

I built a small (12' X 12') deck outside the back door and adjacent to the patio, put a 6' fence around it and put the hot tub on it (tub had been in Florida room in the house). I LOVE the hot tub outside - much better than inside. Cool breezes, stars, etc. And it is much quieter inside without the pump going.

I'll order the wood to cover the patio (12' X 14') with another small deck next week. "Deck" should be read as "pallet" since they are 3.5" off the ground and not attached to the house.

Tomorrow we're going to my brother's house - our nephew is home from Iraq and the whole family (minus one sister and mom and daughter/partner - sister in Denver, mom in nursing home, daughter and partner in Milwaukee) is getting together. Should be a BLAST!!! We are in charge of mashed potatoes (parmesan cheese, milk, garlic salt, yukon gold potatoes) - but I'm also bringing green jello with celery and carrots (an old family tradition) as well as a squash bisque if it turns out and a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue to celebrate the homecoming. I hope we don't finish it - I'd like to save some for later.

The weather here is supposed to be in the 50's and sunny through Sunday - I hope it holds, I'd like to go bust some clay (trap shooting) on Sunday afternoon.

I hope everyone has the opportunity to be with family and loved ones for Thanksgiving - enjoy!
