As
damoodymom so kindly pointed out, these things can get darned long and some people didn't sign up in order to wade through screens full of them.
Personally? I love them, especially the "getting-to-know-you-better" type ones, but I certainly agree that scrolling for twenty screens to get to the next post is a bit much (and this sometimes happens within my own journal, as in the looooong private entries which after a while I cut for my own sanity).
But I digress. In my comment on Debbie's journal, I came up with a list of basic guidelines to follow when posting memes:
- I will not post more than 2 meme things in single post, nor 3 per day.
- I will not allow one meme to extend more than half a screen. If this should occur, I will employ the use of the lj-cut.
- I will separate each meme with the (horizontal rule) tag.
- If my meme contains an image greater than 150px high, I will use an lj-cut.
- If my entry contains meaningful text after the meme, I will provide an lj-cut link to it so that people (including myself) can view comments without having to scroll aaallllllll the way down first.
I'm not giving orders or anything...just applying some common sense.
