How many more upsets...

... before we can no longer consider them upsets? Italy have joined England, France*, Germany and Spain in the list of European giants who've been embarrassed by less-regarded opposition this World Cup, with today's 1-1 draw against New Zealand. Who, having never scored a point in the World Cup finals before this year, now have two to their name. There'll probably be quite a few people in NZ not at work on Monday morning. Their team can go home with their heads high whatever happens against Paraguay, which is more than can be said for England if we don't buck our ideas up.

Also, as a Rochdale lad, seeing Leo Bertos in action again was something of a blast from the past. :)

(* who, meanwhile, are in open revolt over their FA's frankly boneheaded decision to send home Nicholas Anelka, one of the few French players not to have completely disgraced himself on the pitch. I think the Irish are laughing right about now.)
