First child trafficking, then back alley abortions. I think HE is taking notes from Deserving in terms of making Hogsmeade into a sketchy-ass town. What next, selling counterfeit brooms and wizard pot?

Every time I read Luna, I think of Princess Luna from My Little Pony. And somehow that makes it a smidge better.

Though I gotta say, the British spellings of things keeps throwing me off. I forget that it's pronounced "pee-do-file" over there and not "peh-do-file."

The IT Crowd in turn was referencing a joke from Brass Eye, which Graham Linehan also worked on.

When I read that first line about "Harry and Hermione meeting [her] at Buckingham Palace", I tried to figure out what the real-world equivalent to the Equestrian location was. Then I remembered Buckingham Palace actually exists.

Being a brony overwrites your brain sometimes.

Well, I guess that's what the Brits get for hiring Danny Boyle to direct their opening ceremonies...

While I despise the nation of China with all of my being(what can I say? Abuse of your citizenry and currency manipulation strike a chord with me), they had one of the best opening ceremonies of all time.

I think Danny Boyle had the right idea doing his own thing, giving us a ceremony that was good in its own right rather than an inferior imitation of China's.

You should've seen my Facebook feed during that whole thing...

I think Boyle had his heart in the right place, wanting to do his own thing, but I'm not the biggest fan of making a gigantic, eclectic opening ceremony in that vein.

I get that he wanted to showcase various iconic things about Great Britain, from James Bond to the Beatles, but...

Which makes absolutely no sense, considering that we've already got a rather sketchy town in canon as it is(Knockturn Alley)!

I suppose the "thinking" is that they can't get to London. Which makes no sense, because the author has already established the Hogwarts Express as being a regular service. Is the author saying that they can't get to the station and onto a train without anyone noticing, when Dick the dick and his friend (both established, intentionally or otherwise, as extremely stupid) were able to sneak out of Hogsmeade to the nearest Muggle town in Exposed Chapter 23? Of course, if they can get to London, they can just find a Muggle medical centre without having to go down the back-alley abortion route.

Deserving doesn't even have that excuse. Mundungus Fletcher the Hogsmeade child trafficker: I mean really, what.
