An Interesting event at my job

So I got a call today.  A woman called for the Director and wanted to remail unamimous. He soo doesnt take unknown calls.  I tell her he is not in the office, but if he was he didnt take unknown calls.  She starts to say that she really needed help and had been shuffled around several times.  So I ask if maybe I could help her.  She then proceeds to tell me about this elderly woman that has stage 4 cancer and how her family is starving her, refusing to even give her water because they want to "end her suffering"  I was floored by this.  I tell her that IDPH doesnt handle this, but I know that Illinois does have an elder abuse hotline and a dept of aging.  I look up the hotline number for her and transfer her to the state operator to get her to the dpet of aging.  I was on this call for about two minutes and felt at the end of the call that I had helped a little.  My supervisor then comes around the corner and says "Shawnna... have you been helping people again?"
My job is not to help people, it is to transfer them somewhere else.  I lower my head a little and say "nooooo"

I like my job, but wish I could do more sometimes.  But I also had a call from "the crazy guy"  There is literally a file on this guy.  We have a signed form from the nursing home he was in where he left the facility on his own free will and he keeps trying to get a hearing so he can get back in.   (argh, another part of my job is to process involutary transfers and discharges of nursing home for IL.  My official title is Illinois ITD coordinator)  so I have to tell him that we where waiting on his paperwork (which will never come) .  My supervisor warns me not to tell anyone outside the building my name in case he is out there waiting.  His quote was that he is a "class a nutjob"

My sup was also in a really good mood today.  I am guessing he has a date in STL.  I would go far as venture a boyfriend cause he has went down there to last two weeks.  Im happy for him, he is a lot easier to get a long with lately.

Bill is awesome and the gym is awesome too.  I am trying to get Nate to join but to no avail.

I tested today for a cingular job.  I *really* want it if for no other reason than for insurance.  Plus I like call center jobs.  they are easy and pay decent.

thats all for now.
