Literary Opulence: Summer Economy Retreat
I'm writing a grant for myself. I'm jealous of Anne's beach writing workshop with Doug Powell, so I'm having my own retreat. See, our friends are all on a two week camping trip out west, to colorado and a bunch of other places with mosquitos and dry heat. A direct consequence is a huge empty house, to which I have the key so I can feed their cat. Add to this the fact that my girlfriend's father is visiting from Pittsburgh and the two of them are ripping apart my house to build floor to ceiling built-in oak book cases in our living room and I don't want to see the carnage in between the start and what I'm sure will be gorgeous homes for books, certainly better than the milk crates and various Target-bought book cases scattered throughout the house. SO! I'm going to pack up and live at my vacationing pals' house all by myself. Writing retreat for free! Or at the very least, quiet naps sans sawdust.
