the cat came back

So yesterday, the office intern went home at eleven o'clock. She fell asleep. In her chair. I didn't say anything. My boss had to wake her up. It was great. He wound up having to take her home. She seems to have returned for another day of fun, though. Damn.

Last night, we tried the new Greek restaurant on Hampton and Arsenal. The building used to be an expensive wine bar/restaurant that no one ever went to, as far as I know. Ari's, the new Greek place, was uhhh... less than spectacular. St. Louis has two good Greek restaurants, neither of which are in the city (unless you count the other Michael's in the CWE that's part of the Holiday Inn, and no one ever does), so we were excited that a new one opened up near our house. Not so much anymore. I had a greek salad with pita bread and it was really soggy, yet there seemed to be no dressing on it. They also use pitted kalamata olives, which are much more bland than the unpitted ones. It was really nothing to write home about. Laine and her dad got gyros, which looked positively drowned in tsatziki. Laine was still finishing up hers when the waiter came and took her plate away. He took my half finished salad and almost all my pita bread away, too. And there was only one other customer in the restaurant, it's not like they needed the space. The food is cheap, but you get what you pay for. We blew that pop stand and went to Ted Drewes for dessert, where I had a wholly disappointing strawberry shortcake. Yesterday was just a bad day for food.

I'm making tofu thai green curry w/coconut milk tonight, since the kitchen is the one room of the house that isn't a total wreck. They are doing a nice job of keeping their stuff on the canvas drop cloths, though. I might even head over to A&K's house to make dinner there instead of at home, if they're gonna turn their nose up at my cooking. Rude.
