inauguration day

The tricycle is under a tarp in the back yard. I didn't notice it last night, and probably no passers-by will notice it. It's not easy to carry. (Very awkward shape.) It's got flat tires, and one tire/tube needs to be replaced, so riding it away isn't an option. It wouldn't be easy/fun to steal.

There's more road closures around the White House/parade route today. There's a wall of Metrobuses around Columbus Circle, the front of Union Station. (I should take more pictures! I'm often too annoyed by what I see.) I had to detour around another block to get to the office parking garage, and I came in a closed entrance. (Bikes rule.) I don't know that I will be able to get to it tomorrow. (But we don't have any unusual work scheduled for tomorrow, so there's no reason I need to be at the office.)

I slept past 15:00, so I got here pretty late again, getting dark in rush-hour traffic.

Friday 22:00

I decided to bike to the office after all. The street closures and detours were crazy. I'm glad I wasn't in a car.

I saw one guard at the parking-garage entrance (he's there late afternoons to help exiting drivers not hit pedestrians on the sidewalk), and one at the front desk (basement entrance closed for the holiday). And one person coming in the front door as I came up from the parking garage. Same guard was still at the desk when I left. So I saw only 3 other people the whole time I was at work.
