bike mileage log

Well, I've given myself another long-overdue project to work on. Last month I set up a new spreadsheet for doing my timesheet. (We're back to the situation of logging in 2 separate systems, and one of them is both poorly designed and poorly implemented. One resolves to quarter-hours, and the other to tenths, so many days the entries won't match.) The spreadsheet will save me a lot of time calculating, reduce errors, and give me an independent record.

In the process I learned a lot about Excel. Gee, now I know how to do all the stuff I need for logging bike rides and calculating basic statistics (avg speed, monthly miles, yearly miles, etc). So I've set up a bike-log spreadsheet in LibreOffice (an open-source work-alike for MS Word/Excel/etc). What will take far longer than the set-up is the data entry. I've found log notes from a bit of 2005, half of 2006, and what looks like most of 2007-2016. That's going to be a lot of tedious work.

I accomplished something similar years ago with Unix shell scripts, but using them would still require a lot of data entry. A spreadsheet might be useful for other people. (I was surprised a quick web search didn't turn up anything like what I wanted.)
