I'm just back from a midnight jaunt for groceries. There was no milk for my breakfast tomorrow, and I mixed the last can of frozen OJ last night. This was the first grocery trip on the new bike. I'm still using my old panniers, and I left behind some things I usually carry to/from work, but wouldn't need on such a short trip. I got a gallon of milk, 4 12oz (355ml) cans of frozen OJ, and a 4-pack of 5.3oz (150gr) yogurts in an empty pannier. I got 3 more 4-packs of yogurt in the other pannier, which also had locks, tools, and spare tubes. The ride back was mostly downhill, but I noticed the extra weight on the hill up to my corner. There was almost no other traffic out. (I also spotted a fox at the corner.)
This also means
anniemal isn't doing a good job of stocking staples. Milk and OJ both count as staples here. (The yogurt just happened to be on sale, and is a much more healthful snack than the things I tend to grab.) I'll grant that she was probably distracted by the dog, who went in for surgery today - he's been growing a lot of strange lumps, and worrying at them (the ones he can reach) until they are raw. He was also overdue for having his teeth cleaned, so two reasons for anesthesia (expensive). But she also hasn't looked particularly sober, what little time I've seen her today.
