new boss, etc

Jul 20, 2011 22:55

A new manager started here this week, replacing my boss's boss. We have hopes that he will work out well here.

While on the other hand, we had a new Unix admin start 2 weeks ago (July 5th). He didn't come back this week. Apparently he's found something else he likes better. Since I've been here 1 admin has left, 2 have been hired and not stayed, and "new-girl" was here several weeks but seemed to have no clue how much she didn't know about what she was hired to do.I guess the Catholic church is just like any other government or business:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-14224199
Irish PM in unprecedented attack on Vatican
Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny has launched an unprecedented attack on the Catholic Church in parliament.
He said the recent Cloyne Report into how allegations of sex abuse by priests in Cork had been covered up showed change was urgently needed. The historic relationship between church and state in Ireland could not be the same again. The report exposed the elitism, dysfunction, disconnection, and narcissism that dominated the Vatican.
"The rape and torture of children were downplayed or 'managed' to uphold instead the primacy of the institution, its power, standing and 'reputation'," the taoiseach said.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14202981Prof Robin Dunbar (author of "How Many Friends Does One Person Need?") argues that beyond a core group of 150 people - made up of "intimates", family members, and friends - what one is really talking about are "nodding acquaintances".
150?! That's way beyond a core group for me.
