give blood

Jun 22, 2011 11:45

I gave blood today. They had a large crew, and very few donors. One woman finished and left during my intake processing, one guy came in shortly after me, and one more came in while I was having juice. Yet I couldn't make an 11:00 appointment, and I had to come at 10:00. And if I'd picked the previous week, I'd have to have taken 08:00. (Next week I could have gotten 11:00, but I wouldn't have been eligible for the August drive's regular date.)
This site usually has 1 drive a month (on 3rd Wednesdays), but they're having at least 3 this month. But the donor turnout I saw didn't justify the resources. There was also someone visiting from the regional office in Baltimore. It must be pretty sad to see so many people just sitting around. (Especially since blood supplies drop in the summer.)

I think today was my 64th donation. This month's donor gift is a "messenger bag". It looks sharp, but it it's pretty flimsy material, like their other tote bags.
