Tucson, AZ -> Las Cruces, NM

We didn't get on the road Sunday. No big surprise there. We were both tired. Tried getting to bed early, but still didn't get enough sleep.

I did all the driving today, so there'll be no pictures except from rest stops. anniemal has not been a pleasant traveling companion today. One problem was that she was hungry and wanted to eat, but she kept telling me not to stop. Other problems probably extend from comments exchanged in the middle of the night when she was depriving me of sleep.

Tonight we are here (the link's not really worth following), the Hampton Inn in Las Cruces. Nice room, very much like the Holiday Inn Express we stayed in (coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board -- and swimming pool closed for repair) passing through Las Cruces the other way. Cheaper than HIE, but no microwave or fridge in the room. I think we do have Nintendo Game Cube access in the room, though. (There's a connecting door to the next room, so I guess Game Cube might be good for a family with the kids in one room and the adults in the other. Or maybe I'm showing my age, but I'm not interested in Nintendo.) The clock-radio in the room has presets labeled oldies, pop, country, classical, soft rock. I think that's helpful for out-of-towners. There's a lot of road noise here. Maybe I should turn on the fan even though the outside temp is fine, to mask the noise. And we can hear the train horns -- active tracks still go through the middle of the town. We've heard a lot of sirens too this evening. 8-(

WiFi works, but the data speed seems a little slow. No extra charge for the dog. Expecting the breakfast to be good. And just found this on the desk in the room: "No wireless card, no problem. Complimentary wireless bridges that plug into the Ethernet port on your PC are available at the front desk."

We are off the road early tonight, and already fed, so there is some hope of getting some sleep and getting an early start tomorrow -- into Texas. I am really sleepy now.

Did I mention that the speed limits out this way tend to be 75mph (120kmph), once you're out of the urban areas? And of course, everyone drives a little faster than the limit....
