I biked to the office today. The weather's really nice today, and I didn't think it would hold for tomorrow. (Tomorrow I'll leave for mowing the lawn.) I explored some of the longer route options (going farther east) because they looked like they'd be more pleasant, using some trails in parks. Trails have the advantages of scenery and shade, and the absence of motor traffic, but they tend to have poor pavement (sometimes gravel). One trail forded a stream and continued alongside close to water level for a stretch, so it is likely to be under water after heavy rains. And the trails won't be plowed in the winter.
12 miles is a lot farther than 7 (my old commute). It was more like 14 today with some poor signage and general poking at branching paths. But I spent the afternoon getting exercise, instead of watching TV.
