I gave blood today. There was a good turnout, and a lot of waiting around.
Instead of giving out T-shirts or tote bags, this time there were packets of pseudo-baseball cards with pictures of blood donors and recipients. With redemption codes to enter on a website to get prizes. Except the web site doesn't ask for any identifying information (e.g. name, address), so I'm wondering how they plan to send any prizes out. (My prize appears to be a tote bag, but I don't suppose I'll ever see it.) So in addition to having gifts for the donors, they now need a labeling and shipping infrastructure, and they have to pay postage. Maybe they expect to come out ahead with fewer gifts overall because many people won't bother going to the website.
My sinuses have been going crazy bonkers since I got home, so I guess I picked up dust and pollen on the bike ride.
