exuberance

We have a huge, sprawling pumpkin vine in our back yard. It sprouted in the compost pile (only about a month ago?) and dropped over the retaining wall. This morning I counted 16 open blossoms on it. I saw a (carpenter?) bee wallowing around in one flower, or maybe she slept there. (It got down to 55°F/13°C here last night.) Many flowers are under the huge leaves, so I may have missed a few. And there were more flower buds (It's hard to call something 4"/10cm long a "bud"....) that weren't open. Sadly, there's not much left to this growing season, so there's not time for the fruits to get large.

I took pictures before I left for work. I'll try to upload them tomorrow (or maybe tonight).
(Front-yard pumpkin-vine pictures from July 10 here, if you're satiably curious.)
(How come it thinks insatiably is spelled correctly, but satiably isn't?) This is all one vine....

Flowers of 2 genders (same vine)?
