Jamie Lynn?

Jamie Lynn: pregnant at 16! That just got blasted out in a commercial break. I don't have the vaguest notion who Jamie Lynn is, and I don't care (or else I would have Googled her). But I do want to know why the teen pregnancy of a glamourous, (presumably) rich girl is "news" worthy, while there's thousands more pregnant teens out there who go without mention. (And the girls aren't the whole problem, because they don't get pregnant by themselves.)  And I want to know how many of the people who're going going to gawk at that show about her are the ones voting to keep sex education out of the schools and keep contraceptives away from minors.

Abstinence isn't a workable policy for the masses. The propagation of genetic traits favors selecting for people who will want to have sex. I'm not advocating that minors have sex. I am suggesting that we adopt attitudes and policies with some basis in reality. And that we stop celebrating as celebrities people who don't contribute to society.
