shopping for Pennsic

We did go shopping tonight, at the local cheap wholesale store that's just as Chinese as Wal*Mart, but not as large or as visible.

We got 2 inexpensive 5'x8' rugs to cover the 10'x8' (3m x 2.4m) center of the tent. The few 10x8 rugs they had were white or too dark, and didn't have a nice feel either. 2 smaller rugs will also be easier to handle. We also got a small, dark rug to put inside the tent door to park our shoes on. We've already got a smaller rug to cover one end of the tent, and a queen-sized air mattress will fill most of the other end. (The tent was so much nicer with rugs in it at Baitcon....)

We got a fire pit - not the one pictured (which is now out of stock at its web store), but something for half the price. It will be easier than digging (and filling back in later) a fire pit at camp. I don't think our camp will have a stove this year. (I do hope we'll still have the water heater though. Having hot showers available may just be my definition of civilization.) We're not planning to do major cooking ourselves, but evening campfires are apparently on the agenda, and would let us heat up simple canned food. We also got a lightweight metal dishrack which may serve as a workable grill.

On the non-Pennsic front, anniemal also got a phone (the phone she uses most has a bad wire someplace and drops connections/calls) and some hair clips. We had a $20 gift card from the store, presented to us during our X-mas shopping last December. It helped, a bit.

Then we went to Safeway (grocery store) and spent a heck of a lot, but we're not going to starve next week. Most of what we bought was on sale.
