To the January-6th Activists:
What if you're wrong? What if you're Just - Plain - Wrong?
What if you're not part of the majority? What if there are more people who are not Trump supporters? What if Biden won because he got more votes?*
What if your news sources are wrong? What if they're mistaken? What if they're deliberately lying to you? What if they are motivated by self interests (i.e. their own profits), not the will of the people?
Do you ever think that you might be wrong?
Do you ever ask how you would test the "facts" you accept?
People used to believe the world was flat.
People used to believe the Sun went around the Earth. (Explain how that works with a flat earth.)
Doctors didn't think they needed to wash their hands; a gentleman was obviously "clean". (A lady would never be a doctor.)
People used to think that exercise was harmful for women - yet they could cook and clean and wash before we had appliances.
People used to think that education was wasted on girls/slaves/immigrants/indigenous/etc.
Some people used to think that only white men had rights. ("Some people" = white men.)
What can you imagine we might all still be wrong about?
Why would you think a politician knows more about stopping a pandemic than a doctor does?
Why would you accept anything without question from a known liar and self-serving egotist?
Why would so many people follow a self-centered, uninformed, blow-hard so far?
Are you able to admit your mistakes?
When do you stop doubling down in defense of a bad choice?
Is being "right" (even when you're not) more important than being able to learn?
If you think the people who contradict your facts are lying, why are they lying?
Why are so many of them lying? How are they benefiting from lying to the people you?
*That wouldn't be unprecedented. Hillary got more votes than Trump. Trump lost the popular vote - both times. (One more thing you won't believe....)
