Well since I have nothing better to do except wallow in my own misery I'm going to bitch about my newly aquired sickness!
It all started Sunday night at Danny's house. We had just gotten home and were going to enjoy some House when my throat started hurting. Kind of like when you wake up in the morning and the part of your throat behind your nose stings from being too dry. I figured I'd just drink some liquids and make it go away. But this pain didn't go away. we watched 4 episodes of House, and some TV, and the pain had only gotten worse. I felt like my whole throat was on fire!
Then came the sinus headache. In about an hour I couldn't breath through my nose. Dan medicated me with Sudafed and cold water, but I was so miserable looking he ended up giving me Nyquil to put me out for the night. The Nyquil did it's job and I woke up the next morning at about 6AM and feeling even worse. I tryed everything to dull the pain and go back to sleep, but to no avail. On the brink of tears around 10AM I woke Dan up and asked him to take me home. From that point on I laid in bed all day stuffed up, with a burning throat, guzzling liquids, sucking on lozenges, and to top it all off I developed a dry cough. Talk about utter misery. I couldn't even talk. I proceeded to medicate myself with no effect. After hours of no sleep I knocked myself out with more Nyquil.
That brings us to this morning where I was rudely awoken at 6AM by a lovely sharp stabbing pain in my left ear. Not to mention that side was completely deaf. Freaking out and in absolutely horrid pain I called Danny around 7AM. Being half asleep and getting ready for school there wasn't much he could do for me so I got of the phone writhing and crying in pain till 9AM when my doctor's office opened. By the time I called my other ear had started to ache. The hearing loss wasn't nearly as bad though. I scheduled an emergency appointment for 11AM.
Driving there was scarey as hell. I was medicated, in horrendous pain, and extrememly tired. The doctor came in and asked me how I felt. Of course being as ill as I've been I gave him my answer with a side of sarcasm. I told him I felt like I'd been kicked in the face and I had an ice pick being stabbed into my ear. As soon as I got my 'script I rushed to CVS and bought all the medicine I could while I waited. Not to mention some yummy chicken noodle soup. :d
Since then I've been medicating and reading about pain relief on the internet. My doctor said that if I didn't have a heating pad that using a hairdryer on low on my ear would work just as well. I was skeptical let me tell you.. but this works wonders. That combined with sitting up instead of laying down (which helps your ear tubes drain) reduces the pain to that of a mild headache and slight deafness. My cold is now under control as well. I think the Sudafed is finally doing the job. I must say that the draining of one's sinuses is not a delightful experience. Mucus is disgusting and I'm currently full of it.
Now I wait till I can meet Dan after he gets out of work. That way I can be loved and pampered like I should be! :P Ok I'm done bitching now. Sorry to waste your time!
