While doing mile repeats at about 6:15 four times, xcountry can get to seem like a bit of an uninspiring drag. However, on my last mile, it began to rain. And there stretched out in front of me were four xcountry runners, all of us hauling ass in the pouring rain. It may seem funny or stupid now, but it was an incredible feeling. We were giving our all, making personal sacrifices, working hard toward a common goal we could only reach together. Sports can suck balls sometimes. But coaches really aren't making up stuff when they tell you teamwork is important. But they can shut up about it, we do get the point.
(By the way: Hauling ass in the Pouring Rain would be a good name for a rock band)
