I went over to my parents' place to watch the Oscars last night... there used to be a couple of big surprises every year, the underdog would get an award no one thought they would or something. This year there were pretty much no surprises. Brokeback Mountain losing Best Picture to Crash was the biggest one, since Brokeback Mountain won for best director and they're rarely different movies. But even that wasn't an underdog or a movie that didn't deserve the spot. Crash and Brokeback Mountain were two amazing movies that both deserved a lot of recognition, and while I thought Brokeback would take Best Picture I was kind of hoping that Crash would win it.
Although I did think that In The Deep (from Crash) would win Best Original Song just because it was the most appealing song for many ages of people... and It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp won. But after hearing that song I did kind of like it, and my mom said that it was very well done in the movie (I haven't seen Hustle & Flow yet, I really want to though) so I'm not upset that it won. I wasn't attatched to In The Deep or anything, although it was used very well in the movie.
Anyway, there were no dresses to mock! Why wasn't Bjork wearing something resembling an animal or something? All the dresses were pretty average- nice looking, but nothing really exciting. I liked Jon Stewart as the host, although apparently he wasn't that popular. I thought he did a great job, considering how political and biased he usually is. He toned it down very well. He's got a very distinct sense of humour though, and if you don't enjoy it, well... you just don't enjoy it and never will.
Also, Lay's curry flavoured chips are soooooooo good. Everybody (who likes curry, that is) should try them. :)
