So, yeah...

I have a bit of catching up to do.

Saturday saw my board gaming social with neoanjou, wychwood and dragoncookie all turning up. The first game we played was Carcassonne, which I got the impression that people liked but isn't a good game to play with four obsessive graduates, as the obsession for neatness can overule the imperative to win *grin*. I swear that was the neatest Carcassonne map I have ever seen! We then played a game of cooperative Lord of the Rings, which turned out to be quite fun and we won this time! Then wychwood left and the remainder of us had a dastardly game of Munchkin before wrapping up. Twas a good day.

Saturday evenning saw me curl up on the floor being really, really depressed.

Sunday - depressed.

Monday - I got angry at the world and I wrote code.

Tuesday - I didn't get a chance: I woke up stressed, stayed stressed up until I relaxed finally some hour or two before bed.

Wednesday (today) - It was an ok day but if I see more code I'll scream.

Work has gone very well. I seem to be averaging about two hours of work a day, which is really good considering how I feel and I look fowards to going into work just so I get to see people and don't thave to think about anything more complicatd than coding. My pipeline is asembling itself: on Monday it all compiled. On Tuesday I started running through the pipeline stages to check whether they work. By the end of today, I had 4/8 stages running. The more I work on it, the better I feel, seeing three months of work finally coming together in useful, elegant form. Once the code assembles itself, I have the prospect of a stint of science and since, for various reasons, of which the peace of mind from knowing and having designed my own pipeline plays a large part, I'm actually looking fowards to it.

Otherwise, I finished watching .hack//SIGN today, which stayed excellent right to the end, although the end itself was a bit abrupt. I hate it when a series that one gets deeply involved in don't leave enough time to properly tie things up and .hack//SIGN felt like this despite technically tying up all the ends. Having said that, one of the bonus episodes proved to be excellent anyway.

Apart from that, a friend at work introduced me to My Hime, a series that basically seems to be an excuse to watch young girls in short school uniforms battling evil aliens with robots or a giant sword (which of course the youngest, smallest girl totes around with her in complete contradiction of her size). It's very unpretentious and not very challenging viewing which makes it enjoyable and relaxing to watch despite the complete questionality of its premise. I wonder what enjoying it says about my character? *shrugs*

Last two days, I've discovered the joys of eating dinner Italian style. I don't have much food in my kitchen thanks to lack of motivation to shop, so I discovered some sausages lying in my freezer. I had some frozen green beans and felt that it needed some starch to complete the meal. Unfortunately my potatoes were too green. I discovered some pasta in my fridge. Since I didn't fancy that all together, I cooked the pasta first, had it with some grated parmesan and then quickly prepared the sausages with greens for secondi. It works really well with simple food. The primi gives you your basic energy and the secondi gives you protein, vitamins and roughage. The primi also takes away the edge of hunger and leaves the stomach feeling filled but not full, allowing one to truly appreciate the taste of the secondi, which can be quite simple. I know it sounds like a trivial change, but really, it's not and I don't know why it should be so except for my vague attempts to rationalise it above. Today I did the same but with a steak and the simple flavours of the cooked meat worked wonderfully in this scheme. Mmmm. Over the next few days I need to cut back on this, however, as I've been having two main meals a day to make up for the fact that I skip breakfast, which is bad.
