Rukia wasn’t familiar with these sorts of events, but Inoue insisted it was the perfect time. Summer nights. Even though it was tradition to do it at a beach, no one else was around. The front steps would have to do for the moment.
“I only have one left from earlier this summer,” Inoue admitted sadly.
“It’s all right. I have no problem sharing it with you.”
“Here, Kuchiki-san.”
A pack of matches… Rukia took a moment to look them over. She remembered that from time to time, she would light candles for Byakuya in the Sixth Division quarters. Although, these matches were different from the ones she was used to in Soul Society. In any case, Rukia managed to figure out how this set happened to work and lit the fuse.
Orihime held onto the object, slightly bent over. She took the shorter girl’s hand while placing the lit object in front of her. Rukia linked her hands with other girl while placing her hand on the end of the stick.
It flickered against the night sky, just like its name.
Sparklers.
And this would shine for them, linking the two of them together.
