Never… never would she have ever stoop so low. She did the one thing she would have never wanted to do. The only thing that reminded her of her father. The one thing, she would have rather die before doing the act.

She cheated on Thobari with… a ghost?

How was that even possible? Her hands tangled in her hair, she couldn’t even look at Thobari. She was so ashamed. ‘Daddy’s little girl’ committed what seemed to Kallen as a family sin. Her father tore her family apart, and now she had ripped Thobari’s heart to shreds.

She couldn’t even explain why and how, because a ghost can’t feel, can’t touch. But Kallen swore Castiel could. How could he push her over the edge over and over? And it was around Castiel, she was weak. She knew she could have left him. There was something about him that doesn’t have to tell her to shut up and take it. She felt it in his presence and that’s why each time, she couldn’t say ‘no’.

Thobari didn’t take the news well. In an instant, he calmly packed his things and walked out the door. Kallen couldn’t even stop him, hell, she didn’t even try. She broke the love of her life’s heart. There was no way this was going to work. She did the very thing she accused him of.

When Thobari walked out, that’s when Castiel appeared.

“You are-”
“Shut up.”
“ -hurting.”

No shit Sherlock; thanks for claiming the obvious. Kallen, for the first time, brought her head up and glared at the ghost. If Castiel told her to get on her knees right now, she wouldn’t do it. Not this time. She stood up slowly.

“Weak.”
“Excuse me?”
“You are weak. You could have left at any time. I am merely a ghost.”
“Merely? Try overpowering.”

She had to get out. Kallen wasn’t going to stay here with him.

“So he left.”
“You’re real talkative all of a sudden. More talkative than when you’re fucking me.”
“You should have gone after him.”
“Don’t tell me what I should and shouldn’t do.”

That was it. Kallen stood up and walked out the door. Not to follow Thobari but to get out the house. And once she was out, she found herself in the downpour of the rain. Great. Depressing days brought depressing skies. The only thing she was glad about was that Castiel didn’t follow her.

So she walked. On and on and on and on. She didn’t care where she was going. She didn’t have a home to return to. The clouds seemed to cover her mind and not just the sky. She stopped and looked up at the sky… maybe looking for some sort of answer.

“…”
“…”
“…”
“What the hell do you want now, Castiel? You help rip my future apart. What else do you possibly want?”
“You think I don’t care about you.”
“I know you don’t.”
“You are wrong.”
“Yeah, whatever.”

Kallen moved to walk across the street, but went out too suddenly. A hydroplaning car unintentionally aimed right for her. The light, it was bright. Droplets from the rain fell from her hair as her head whipped around to stare at the car. There was nothing she could do.

This was karma.

But even though Thobari walked away, there was so much she needed to say.

I love you. I’m sorry. Can you please forgive me? I’ll make things right. I can’t do this alone. I need you. I want to be with you. I wish to start a family with you. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I want to see you.

It wasn’t her life that flashed before her eyes. It was all the things left unsaid that did. For a moment, he saw Castiel’s reaction, or lack there of. His face was emotionless as usual. But she saw his hand and without thinking, reached out for it.

Minutes later, she opened her eyes and felt the coldness of something against her skin. Blurred vision focused and Kallen came to realize she was holding Castiel’s hand. But why did he become clearer to see now?

The grip on her hand tightened as he pulled her forward. She didn’t even feel the force behind it. It was almost as if she had no weight, airless, graceful.

“You are foolish.”

His lips pressed against hers as he ran his free hand through her auburn hair and cradled the back of her head. She felt that. His touch felt real… more so now than any other time before. Fuck. Did this mean…?

The male pulled away and placed his arms around Kallen and pulled her into a hug. With a chin on the top of her head, he said,

“You are foolish for I know that I am the one you wish to be with. And now, you can.”
