i've had the plague for at least a week and a half now. the worst of it was last week, when i spent saturday through tuesday on the couch, using up every tissue in the house along with two or more rolls of toilet paper. i couldn't even rest because i couldn't breathe no matter how much nasal spray i snorted. i seem to finally be on the mend. i went to let's dish with my parents on saturday morning and that was nice. i haven't seen them much lately. i did a lot of cleaning and took an obligatory nap before heading off to extreme bowling. i haven't seem so many of my friends together in quite a while. i was one of the only sober people there, but i had quite a good time with everyone and managed to stay until about 11:45 PM. i can't remember the last time i was up that late! evan came bowling with me on sunday morning, and it was good to spend some more time with my parents. they're always supportive but they've really been there for me over the past year, especially my mom. i feel like we've grown a lot closer and i couldn't be happier about it.
i really wish we got mlk day off, but i guess i should be used to it by now. the nice thing is that the traffic is always super light when i work federal holidays. i'm leaving work early today anyway for a meeting with my old boss, to discuss my concerns with my current position. i sent her an e-mail last march and never got a response, and i also outlined a lot of my concerns in the written portion of my review this summer. now that i've flat out asked for a transfer, i finally got some response. i'll be interested to see how this goes. we do get tomorrow off, but they made us give up president's day in exchange for it. god forbid they just GIVE us one more holiday!
we found out last night that one of evan's cousins has tickets to the inauguration, so he is supposed to be driving up here with a friend today and crashing at our place. it's funny that so many people are coming from hundreds and even thousands of miles away to attend, and yet everyone i know that lives in the area would much rather watch it on tv than go anywhere near the city, historical event or not. we'll definitely be cozied up at home!
