Deadlines Due

Rangiku, Toushirou - I'm sorry about the mess on the kitchen counter. I was in the middle of waterproofing my boots when the phone distracted me and the kit slipped my mind. It'll be gone as soon as possible.

So I suppose tomorrow's my last full day since I have to leave so early on Saturday. Last minute nerves are kicking in (about time too.) You suddenly become aware of what you're leaving behind for so long. Home. Friends. Food that isn't travelpacked and freeze dried (maybe we should go the whole way and take pemmican?) I'm hoping they'll disappear once I'm being distracted by the heat. And the humidity. And the bugs.

Part of my worry right now probably stems from the helpful e-mail by travel partner sent me in which I was linked to this article. It was just oh so helpful.

Snakes I can handle, spiders too. In fact, I'm unbothered by the hordes of large and/or poisonous and/or dangerous creatures in the jungle. Just not the leeches. There's something decidedly underhanded about an animal that sneaks up your clothes to suck your blood. I almost get the feel it should ask permission...or at least make the bite hurt so that you know you're being preyed upon. The 'sucking without asking' thing just seems rude...
