Last Tuesday, I saw Loreena McKennitt in concert and OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG it
was such a wonderful experience!!! Eee! It was magical!
When I arrived at the concert’s place, I could clearly see huge dark
clouds looming in the sky, threatening to ruin the concert… OMG, I was so
afraid it was going to start pouring down with rain and that the concert
might be canceled… Fortunately, that wasn’t the case!!! Finally Loreena
came out to the stage and by the time se started singing Tango to Evora I
was already dead of squeeeeeing and eeeeee-ing!!! Halfway through the
second song, it started raining a little bit, but it didn’t last long,
yay!
Everything sounded so perfect and alive… I daresay, she sounds better
live than in a recording! She is also such a delightful charming lady, she
took some pauses to talk to the audience about her music, her influences,
her research on Celtic music; listening to her talking was almost as
marvelous as listening to her singing.
All the musicians that accompanied her were equally fantastic.
She sang so many of my favorite Loreena songs such as Bonny Portmore, The
Lady of Shallott, The Mummer’s Dance, The Old Ways, Bonny Sawns, Mystic’s
Dream, The Highwayman, Never-Ending Road, The English Ladye and the
Knight… Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
