My son is 3yrs old and I get raised eyebrows and comments ranging from 'That's great!' to 'What's wrong with public school?' when I tell people that I plan to homeschool. Well, I don't PLAN to homeschool, I've been doing it all along ( Read more... )

I hear you! For what it's worth, I think you are right on track, and your son is lucky to have a mother who cares so much for him and his future.

My wife and I recently watched a DVD that would give you some additional tools, but it isn't one you would expect to do that. It's called "Gardiner's World" and it's a guy who interviews people who are experts on different topics, but have unusual views of them. The first guest on his show was a British citizen who got a patent on the Celtic Cross - because he proved that it was a navigational instrument! The host's name is Philip Gardiner.

Awesome. I agree 100%. I had several friends growing up who were homeschooled. My only concern is that my friends were socially awkward. They didn't have clubs or a church or organizaion to learn how to be with others of their peer group. I loved them for their awkwardness.

Im sure you've already thought this one through. Scouting, little league, center for the arts, playhouses, music and dance recitals, all are good for peer socialization. Just my $0.02

Yeah, I'm not worried about that at all. My son is VERY social and he gets to socialize quite a bit ( ... )

Awesome ... I knew you had already thought of that, but it bears repeating.

I took one of my homeschooled friends with me to my Senior Prom, he loved it! I agree High School is where all the cool social things happen.
