Cousin
Had my cousin here. He's twelve and in the 24 hours that we had together he has told me everything about his friends and the stupid games they come up with, scary movies, other movies he likes, Harry Potter spoofs he knows of and other things that he founds interesting in his blissfully prepubescent life. Dammit, I want back! Or not. But it sounds superfantastic, running around, throwing rocks at people.
HP5 - the movie
There was one serious problem with the movie. There was sum chick that got to kiss Dan, and she was not me. There were other problems, like how no one in the movie wanted to kiss me. I can accept that Roy Mustang won't kiss me, because I know for sure that he doesn't exist for real, but I also know tha the actors of the HP movies do, so I find the lack of kissing disturbing.
But, kay, fine. I admit it. I enjoy the HP movies more than the books. At least the last two movies VS the last two books. The books, I read dutifully, and I am looking forward to the seventh one (I'll midnight queue for it, as a matter of fact, with some blogger girl I've never met before) because I'm curious. But the movies, I actually look forward to seeing them. I just reread HP5 and it was okay. I just saw HP5-movie and it made me want to fly on a broom, rebel at school, be 15 an kiss under a mistletoe (loved how the kiss was off-screen in the book and on-screen in different angles in the movie) and do cool friendship magic. Fight evil. Alohomora locks.
You know,
the thing I wrote about fanfics (STILL NEED RECS, DAMMIT!), about a Wizarding World that feels REAL? It does, in the movie. The characters feel more alive, the school feels more flesh-and-bloody, Harry's CAPSLOCKING feels more teenagerly realistic. It's not all about the family-friendly platinocness of the relationships, but it's a symptom - when Rowling can keep real teenagerness out of the books, it's impossible to keep it out of the movies because you need real teenagers to act in them.
I approve of the acting, the hotness, how there was very little Tonks in the film, Harry's clothes, Black family tree and LUNA LOVEGOOD. I have never liked Tonks and I have always liked Luna, so the movie was a treat. It was a long time since I last saw a movie that I immediately wanted to watch again, so I guess this one was good.
