Haven't seen the movie yet. Will tween-sit this Thursday and we'll all go see it together then. The tween in question is my cousin from Latvia, he's twelve now, but six years ago he couldn't pronounce rs properly, so he said "Hally Pottel". Oh, memories! He used to be totally in love with me when he was little, but now I haven't met him properly for tWo years, so I have no idea.
My morning paper has this Sunday thing with six funny quotes from famous people from this week. Today they have Daniel Radcliffe with "Don't call me Harry Potter in bed". I really seriously want to know whom he said that to. Lucky bastard, whoever it is.
Anyway, I'm struggling through HP5 and 6. I really should reread them before HP7. Can anyone recommend good fanfic? The fandom is hueg and I haven't seen much fanfic of the kind I'd really love to read - short fics portraying aspects of the Wizarding World that we do not see through Harry's eyes. Or, kinda, "What if the wizarding world was realistic?".
Like, if Hogwarts was realistic, they would have all kinds of problems caused by self-brewed birth-control potions. Or potions that remove body hair. Brights 7th year students would see that kind of studd to younger kids and it would cause le trouble. And pure-blood teenagers would totally rebel by dressing up in muggle clothing. That's the kind of thing I'd love to read about. Speaking of, being an immigrant I find the muggle students' quick and painless adaption to the wizarding world quite laughable. Seriously, that's 10-11 years of different backgrounds, different lives, different culture... And no, you don't see much of that in the books, people never really read fiction there. Which, of course, is just probably because the books are told from Harry's POW. And that should be corrected in fanfic. Or how Hogwarts students learn to cook, because they move from home at 11, and then they never have to cook at Hogwarts, so once they are free and 18 and get their own places to stay... WHOA!
I can come up with more examples, but you know. Wizarding World stuff from perspectives other than Harry's. That kind of thing. Or good Lupin+Tonks-comfort sex.
