Chapter 7

Ryo looked innocently at the not so happy boy in front of him. “God, isn’t that a way to greet your best friend,” he said sarcastically.
Kame stared wide-eyed at the black haired boy in front of him. ‘What? Best friend?’ He looked confusingly from one boy to the other wondering why the name Ryo sounds so familiar. He continued to think back on some conversation his and Jin’s parents held a while back ago and suddenly remembered the mention of Jin’s best friend calling him fat.
“Mou~ why were you touching my Kame-chan?” Jin whined to the friend in front of him before realizing the words coming out from his own mouth. Jin frantically covered his mouth and shook his head hysterically.
Kame panicked at what Jin promised not to tell anybody and hurried to explain, “No! It’s not you what think it is. We’re not together. He meant that I’m just his step-brother. I mean, who would like such a baka!” and with that, Kame released the arm Jin had around his waist and clumsily shoved his boyfriend away. ‘Great!’ Kame thought to himself.
Jin pouted at Kame’s words. ‘Was there a need to describe my intelligence?’ He thought, not daring to say it out loud. He’s scared of causing more trouble than he already did.
Ryo smirked at both Kame’s and Jin’s reactions. ‘Hah!! Looks like I caught your secret’ Ryo thought mischievously. “Ah, really? So you’re the dear step-brother that Jin had been mentioning on the phone about.” Ryo took a few steps forward toward Kame until they were merely a foot away from each other.
Ryo leaned forward right next to Kame’s left ear and whispered rather breathily, “You smell so good. It’s really hard to not mistake you as a girl when you’re wearing such a cute skirt.”
Kame’s cheek immediately turned red with Ryo’s comment and shyly turned his head away while taking a small step backwards.
Jin, on the other hand, wasn’t very pleased seeing his friend flirting with his lover and making Kame blushed in such a cute way. Only he has a right to see that side of Kame. His lover didn’t actually expect him to stand there watching what Ryo was doing to him, right?
Making up his mind, secret or no secret, he could not just do nothing while his boyfriend was getting harassed. He walked forward to where Ryo was and pushed him rudely around the chest away from Kame while slipping an arm to the smaller boy’s shoulders.
“Did you understand when I said, he’s mine? Go find yourself another boyfriend,” Jin glared at his friend while Kame wanted to smack himself for having such a dumb boyfriend that doesn’t use his brain before doing anything.
“So much for just a step-brother,” Ryo grinned victoriously at the couple in front of him.
Jin looked at Kame, baffled, “You admitted that we’re together, baka. It was just trick.” Kame resisted the urge to saying more insults to the bigger boy when realization began to take over Jin’s face.
Jin gasped at the situation before accusing his friend. “You did that on purpose! You know that I wasn’t just gonna let you do that to him. Arghh! I’m so dumb to believe that! I hate you, Ryo.”
The said friend however, smirked at the pouting boy in front of him. “Where else did you think you got your nickname from, Bakanishi. You could totally live as a pig, but then, even a pig would probably be smarter than you,” Ryo snickered. “I don’t even know why the two bothered to hide it anyways. I could tell both of you were together since I saw him.” Ryo gestured the other boy in the room. “He was the pretty type that you liked.”
‘Pretty type? I thought that Jin wasn’t gay……… before he met me.’ Kame wondered.
Seeing that Kame seemed to take in the things that Ryo rambled, Jin immediately tried to change that subject.
“Alright you monkey, looks like you got some explaining to do.”
Seeing that Ryo had no idea what Jin was referring to, Kame helped clarified, “He meant how you got in here.”
“Ooooh! God, Bakanishi. You haven’t changed one bit and to think that I thought that you might have gotten smarter. You still don’t make any sense. You’re so lucky to find someone as cute as Kame-chan who could accept your bakaness,” Ryo pointed out as he shook his head.
“Hey! Don’t call him that! You just barely met him. Kamenashi-kun would work,” Jin interrupted.
“Kame is fine. But I don’t have any problem with you calling me Kame-chan either. Please call me whatever makes you comfortable,” he said politely.
“Oi~” Jin was about to retort but got cut off as Ryo proceeded to introduce himself. “Nice to meet you Kame-chan, Ryo Nikishido desu~”
Kame giggled at Jin’s effort to try end the conversation between them while Ryo began to explain why he was here.
“About the middle of last week, your mom,” Ryo pointed at Jin, “called my parents and asked if I could come over and stay with you all this week.”
“Why would Mom do that? This would mean that another person is going to eat up all the food she prepared for us,” Jin said thoughtfully. “So what did your parents say?”
“Well, obviously, they said I could come since I’m sitting on the couch in your living room, idiot.”
“Hey! That wasn’t necessary.”
“Your mom said that she is worried to leave just the two of you behind so she gave me the keys before she left,” Ryo continued, ignoring Jin’s comment. “And I could see why. Who knows what the two of you are planning to do at night with no one else around.”
Kame’s gaze traveled to the floor to hide his blush when he realized what Ryo was trying to imply.
“Well, well…. now I’m telling you that both of us are fine and you don’t need to worry about us. So why don’t you just go back home, back to Osaka,”Jin said in annoyance.
“Hell, no! And get away from me. I finally got a break away from my parents. I don’t wanna see them for the whole spring break. Besides, I want to spend more time with Kame-chan.” Ryo said and flung his arms around Kame’s neck that was sitting in the sofa right next to his.
“Oi! Get your hands off of him. You midget! Kame is my boyfriend,” Jin yelled at the boy while trying to get his arms off of his lover.
Kame, meanwhile, gazed helplessly at the two immature boys in front of him, at loss of what to do.
-~*-~*-~*-~*-
“Jin, change the freaking channel. I don’t want to watch Anego and I’m pretty sure Kame-chan doesn’t want to either.”
“Shut up, Ryo. This drama is awesome! It’s so sweet of him to love someone that is so much older than him. And stop rolling your eyes. I could see you, you know,” he said sitting comfortably on their couch, in the dim lit living room.
“Well, I can’t help it. First, you burnt our instant noodles and now you don’t let me watch t.v.”
“It’s not my fault you lazy ass don’t want to cook it yourself. I told you that I don’t cook. Besides, Kame-chan offered to do it anyways. I don’t know why you still forced me to make it.”
“How could anyone possibly overcook instead noodle. Besides, you need some exercise. You know how fat you had got by sitting there and wait for someone to bring you your food. And Kame-chan looks so fragile. How could you let someone you love work for you.”
Kame took his eyes off of the t.v. at the mention of his name. He brought his legs up to the couch and held them in front of his chest while snuggling comfortably next to Jin. “It’s okay, Ryo. I’ll cook breakfast tomorrow. I’ll promise not to hurt myself in the kitchen,” and gave a cute smile at the other boy.
“Alright, Kame-chan. I’ll let you have a try since I don’t want to end up being in the hospital during spring break for food poisoning if we continued to let that pig -”
“That pig what?” Jin asked as he realized Ryo stopped in the middle of his insult. He looked over to his friend and followed his gaze back at Kame. Jin looked horrify as he realized what Ryo was staring at.
“OH MY GOD! KAME, YOU’RE FLASHING!!!” Jin screamed while frantically used pillow to cover Kame’s private part. “Baka! And you said I was dumb. How could you forget that you’re still wearing a dress?”
Kame instantly put his legs back down and straightens his skirt, making sure it covered everything.
“Ahhh! Gomen, ne~” Kame apologized, blushing at his own actions.
Jin, on the other hand, got up from his seat and rushed over to Ryo and grabbed the collar of his shirt. “Why, you bastard! Why didn’t you tell him that he was flashing instead of staring at his you know what? I’m telling you, stay away from him. He’s mine! He’s my boyfriend! He’s your best friend’s boyfriend. So give up,” Jin said, satisfied that he got his point across.
“Alright. Alright. Could you let go of my shirt, now? It’s expensive. I don’t think you can afford to pay it if it rips.” Jin reluctantly let go of his grip while Ryo apologized. “Ano, sorry Kame. I was kind of………. ah~ I don’t know what got into me. I should have told you instead of staring,” he said sheepishly.
“It’s okay Ryo-kun,” Kame said, feeling that his cheeks started to heat up again.
-~*-~*-~*-~*-
“Wah~ It’s already so late. We should get ready to sleep,” Jin suggested while giving a yawn.
“I can’t understand a word you said, but it’s kind of late, how about calling it a day?” Ryo asked.
“I said that,” Jin whined to his friend.
“Ne, Kame-chan, let’s go upstairs and show me my room,” Ryo said while dragging Kame’s arm and headed up the stairs.
“Hey! Where are y’all going? Wait for me!” Jin cried, still feeling afraid from the ghost movie they watched earlier.
When Jin reached the third floor, he saw Ryo standing next to Kame in front of a room, too close to his opinion.
“Haha… this must be your room, Kame-chan. It’s so full of turtles,” Ryo laughed. “I guess I’ll sleep in this room, tonight,” he decided.
“WHAT?!?!” Jin said while making his way to them. “ No, you’re not! Ryo, you’re sleeping on the second floor. There’s plenty of guest rooms there!”
“But I want to make sure no scary looking, overweight man come into Kame-chan’s room tonight and harass him,” he retorted.
“Who are you calling scary? You’re the one that have a face that would break cameras, mirrors, and glass.”
Kame stared wearily at the two friends in front of him. They were arguing and bickering the whole entire day. He’s tired from the day’s events.
Without speaking a word, Kame stepped into his room, closed the door, and locked it, but not before yelling out that he’ll make sure no one would come to his room tonight.
The two best friends stared at each other wondering why Kame left them. Jin suddenly remembered something and pounded on the door and said, “Kame! Tomorrow…… you don’t have to wear the maid outfit anymore since there’s a perverted person living with us.”
Jin pushed Ryo down the stairs to the second floor after he heard a soft “hai~” coming from within the room.
“Oi. Watch it. No one can bully the Osaka’s sexiest man. Those girls would kill you if they find out you hurt me.”
Jin gave a soft “tsk” sound before leading him to the room he’ll be staying in for the rest of the week and returned to his own room, preparing for bed.
Just as he was about to turn off the light, Jin heard a soft knock at the door. He rushed to open it, thinking that it’ll be Kame. “Kazu-chan!!” he screamed out while opening the door to meet the eyes of the other boy.
“Kazu-chan?” Ryo asked with a raised eyebrow. He made his way past the disappointed Jin and sat on the chair placed by the study table. “So that’s his bed-name.”
Jin’s face looked flustered while stuttering, “Bed-na… name? What are you talking about,” as he resumed closing the door.
“Jin, don’t kid me. You two haven’t done it yet?” Ryo continued to question.
“Mou, Ryo-chan, those questions are kind of private, you know.”
“Stop pretending. Both you and I know how much of a player you are. You don’t even remember half the girls you went out with and not to mention that you probably haven’t had a girlfriend that you haven’t cheated on yet.”
Jin hushed Ryo, “Shhh…. He might hear us,” surprised at the sudden serious tone of his friend.
“Don’t worry. I checked his room earlier, his lights were off. Kame probably went to sleep already.”
‘Kame?’ he thought and pause a few steps away from the restroom. ‘Why is my name being mention?’ Kame walked to the front of Jin’s room and realized that there was a crack and noticed that the door wasn’t close properly.
‘I shouldn’t be eavesdropping,’ he thought but was curious about why they said his name. ‘Well, they are talking about me.” Kame continued to stand right outside the door and tried to listen to their conversation.
“Jin, I know that you like to play around, and I have no problem with it since I do too. But Kame is your step-brother, your step-parents’ son. Don’t go and have a relationship with him unless you’re positive you like him.
Remember that he’ll still be living with you even if things between you guys won’t work out. So be careful with your choices.
And what about your parents? Not only will the relationship between the six of you be confusing, but the two of you are also guys. Will they be able to accept that?
No offense, Jin, but you have never went with a guy before. Are you sure it’s not just because it’s something new and exciting and not to mention no responsibility?”
Jin, however, looked down to the floor and didn’t answer his questions. He, instead, kept quiet the whole time Ryo was giving his speech.
Outside the room, on the other hand, Kame’s heart nearly stopped beating as he heard Ryo’s words. ‘Jin is only going out with me because it’s a new experience to him?’ Kame rushed off to his room, careful to not let the other two know that he overheard them.
“Jin?”
“I don’t know, Ryo. I don’t know,” Jin said, shaking his head and not looking up from the ground, oblivious to the fact that Kame had heard the entire conversation.
The shorter boy gave a soft sigh and said, “Jin, Kame is special and is too innocent for his own good unlike all the other sluts that you dated. Please……… don’t hurt him.”
In the room next to theirs, Kame felt as if his heart has been stabbed with a thousand knives. It was so hard for him to recover from the amount of pain Yamapi had put him through and admit to fall in love with his own step-brother. He thought that Jin would be a better person than Yamapi and not talk down about him in front of other people.
Yet, Jin was just being with him because he was easy and doesn’t have to worry about him being pregnant when they get a chance to make love. Kame felt even more hurt and used than the time where Pi had turned him down in such a cruel way.
He felt a tear fell from one of his eyes and more began to fall as he thought about how stupid he must be, actually believing that Jin’s feelings were real. Kame tried to choke back his sobs to prevent the other two boys from hearing him and continued to cry until sleep managed to take over him.
