I had a Hitachi drill for about 20 years, it was great. Now I have a de Walt at home (not very brawny, but reliable easy to use), and a de Walt at work that will twist your arm off, It has a one hand, no key, chuck, too!

Every time I have gotten a drill, I have looked at Makita and bought something else.

Thanks! It's been a fun experience, frustrations included.

I almost bought a Black and Decker last night, but passed it up. I've considered de Walt tools - they seem to have a good rep and I see them a lot at the various construction sites I visit at work. My dad has a Makita he's fond of and my step-dad practically swears by them. Whichever I go for, my next drill is definitely going to be Quality.
That's my new motto for buying tools in general. Not too pricey, not too crappy, but somewhere in that happy medium where you're definitely Getting What You Pay For.
