I've grown a real bizarre obsession with 80's music lately. I've been getting a whole bunch of it from LimeWire and I haven't been able to stop. I know it has something to do with watching The Wedding Singer the other day. I may have only been alive in the 80's for like, 5 years, but I have so many VIVID memories of the years AFTER, when my parents still listened to Midnight Oil, early Talking Heads, English Beat, The Psychadelic Furs, and a whole bunch more, but there was ONE song in particular that gives me the most overwhelming and profound sense of nostalgia: Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio". It's frightening the kind of flashback I get when I hear that song. Back when I was like, 6 or something, playing with my cousin in their old house, back when their dog, Roxanne, was still alive, she used to eat all his toys and we were playing with the Ghostbusters and Peter Venkman only had one arm and one leg cuz Roxanne ate him that morning and there was still some dog saliva on it and that really grossed me out and our parents are in the other room watching The Thing and they wouldn't let my cousin and I watch it, but we snuck into the living room and saw the part when the Thing attacks the dogs in the kennel and we were mesmerized...
Whoa.
Anyone else out there got a song that throws you through the proverbial loop?
