I'm slowly, but surely, catching up on all my shows. Today was very TV heavy.
"Lover Enshrined"
It took me longer to read this book than any of the other Brotherhood novels. This one focused on Phury with Rehv as secondary (and Xhex as a secondary to Rehv actually). This book was very heavy on Phury's addiction, which was done amazingly well. I really felt like The Wizard was there throughout the entire thing until the final few pages. It was quite plot heavy as well, moving many characters forward. John/Quinn was amazing - Wrath is my hero. The tear tattoo and that whole part of the book had me swooning. Blay facing his homosexuality was so well done and the reactions to it was something I appreciate so much of Ward. John/Xhex is something I want to happen. I'm excited about the next novel (Rehv's) b/c we're going to get a look into the Sympath stuff. Rehv and the Princess was completely fucked up but in that car accident way where I couldn't put the book down.
The way the issues surrounding the Chosen were dealt with was awesome. I love the way Ward settled the issue of Phury being the Primale but bonding with Cormia. I look forward to seeing how all that plays out.
The final 7 pages or so had me in tears. Bella giving birth to Nalla and the Brotherhood showing up to bring Phury back into the fold... simply beautiful.
The preview of the Insider's Guide makes me want to hold it in my hands right now. Oct 7 is not far away, but I don't know if I can go out to get it that night. And that sucks. I'm going to work extra hard to get my work done for that week so I can read it immediately. I'm so glad the story is Bella/Z because I'm such a fan. I can't wait.
"SVU"
Wow. Not the GREATEST episode ever, but they finally had Olivia dealing with the attempted rape from last year. Finally. And it was so well done - her story reflected in the case, which pushed her to get professional help. The whole final scene broke my heart. Mariska Hargitay is just so powerful and amazing. How did she NOT win the Emmy this year? I still can't wrap my head around that. She is brilliant. And Stabler's daughter - that was hilarious. I am so angry that they've made Fin so hateful, but Munch's comments about opening a bar was so great. And Cragen's "I'll bring it up at my next AA meeting" was very well placed lol This episode was much better than I expected and I'm glad I didn't miss it. Next week looks good - if this is the final year (or at least final year for Mariska and Chris) I'm hoping they do a lot of outrageous episodes to make it a great year. Dealing with Stabler's family is always a good way to do that. Oh - and I didn't appreciate the looks Stabler was giving the new ADA. seriously.
"Bones"
Brennan is hilarious. Shooing the opossum away had me laughing and she and Booth have fantastic dialog this season. I don't like Hodgins post-Angela. It's so sad. The whole episode was upsetting - I hate animal abuse, but seeing dog fighting? :( I hate that :( But I love that Brennan loves the dogs *grin* The dog whisperer was cool. Loved Booth/Brennan at the end - they are simply too cute.
"True Blood 2&3"
Awkward lines/moments aside, I'm in love with this show. Particularly Sookie - Anna is lovely. And Tara! And Layfette - he's wonderful. I don't think there's a whole lot to say about this show. Lots of sex which isn't surprising. I appreciate the fact that they're actually showing female masturbation, as short as the scenes may be - that's something that is so rarely discussed let alone shown on TV. It grants women sexual agency and I say YAY. haha Bill's "Friends" are freaky - and I didn't appreciate that he let them traumatize her. That pissed me off. Episode 4 is on tonight - can't wait to see it! :)
"The Office"
I fucking love this show. Jim + Pam FTW seriously. I *squeed* at the end of the episode.. I so did NOT see that coming! I really thought we were going to have to wait until the end of the season to see him propose. zomg. And him going to visit Pam in her dorm and tricking the camera crew so he could shut the door. *sigh* They are amazing. Stanley was fantastic, as always. And Dwight + Angela are great. I feel bad for Andy b/c he was being so great throughout the episode, but still! Angela <3 Dwight!
"RENT live on film"
I don't know if I can put my feelings for this into words. I'm overwhelmed by how amazing this production was. The cast was fantastic and had great chemistry. Often times the actors on stage don't seem to "click" but this cast... amazing. Tracie Thomas was Joanne which I found amusing since she was in the movie version. The Maureen was great... Mark = incredible... Angel + Collins = love... Roger + Mimi = amazing. I cried throughout the second half as though I was watching it on stage. I looooooved this so much. I need this on DVD like I need my next breath. I must own this production on DVD - perhaps two copies just in case. The filming was exceptional. If you didn't get a chance to see it, you MUST see it when it's released on DVD whenever that is.
And don't forget to try and get RENThead (or regular) tickets for the final Tour next year!!!
