Well, I had an interesting weekend - climbed a few routes near Interlaken - limestone here seemed a little harder - very beautiful once again. Got home late (and a little tired) and met up with my American friends (Jan and Mike) for a night on the town. We wanted to find something alternative - and were suprised when we hopped on the train - that there were a bunch of young alternative people - but then they disappeared.
The night we spent in Aarua, the next majar village from Reinach. We started off roaming the old cobbled streets for somewhere alternative, the best thing we could find was a small bar celebrating Depeche Mode music with an older crowd - after a red wine and a beer later - we were board - especially after the Americans were being harrassed for being American - and "NO" they didn't vote for Bush. So, we continued on to a quaint, dimmly lit bar - for another beer before the last train departed at 12am - being the nerds and music dorks that we were - we were feeling quite tipsy after a couple of drinks and were stoked when someone got up to play some live piano - and the Americans might have scored a gig there - so that would be good!
Generally - people in Switzerland (and in the country anywhere in the world) are conservative - so everyone goes to bed early and listens to bad love songs on the commercial radio station - why don't people realise there's so much more to life then what the Captialist Socitety Facade has to offer................!
