As my good friend William said, "This weekend went by retardedly fast." Not quite so elegant, but it certainly sums up my feelings. I swear I could dance for 8 hours every night every weekend all year...especially with my school schedule. Mile High Blues was absolutely invigorating for my soul. Being so exhausted when I went to bed at 4 or later every morning completely reset my body and mind. Then, when I woke up, the first thing I filled it with was dancing. I can't wait to go to lots more exchanges and blues parties this year, which will be possible once my dad's airline benefits kick in. I met so many people it took me at least 20 minutes to find as many as I could on facebook. I want to go to Seattle and Chicago and Austin and Portland and San Francisco and maybe even Mystic to dance forever with everyone. Both nights at the Turnverine there was not a single song I wanted to dance that I didn't get to dance. Good thing the ballroom is so huge, the place was packed. I can only talk about so many people. A sample of the characters along with some stories:
William: My good friend from Salt Lake who I met at last year's exchange. We didn't really talk over that year, but now that we have each other's numbers we're texting all the time. I figured out he's only 28 and I wish I could hang out with him in normal situations because we could talk for hours. And we're both huge nerds. And he's an archeologist and works in a museum, which is, for somereason, simultaneously a) cute and/or b)extremely attractive (Indiana Jones, eh)? The only problem is, I can't dance with him because I honestly don't know what he does with his feet. I mean, I don't know, but it really almost doesn't matter, he's such a fun guy. He has long-ish hair :)
Ruby: Only danced with her in lessons, maybe 5 times. Gorgeous skin, freckles, red hair. Slightly shorter than me and such a fabulous lead. I was so comfortable dancing with her. Total dance babe.
Tim: Hotty mchothot from LA and he is sooo from LA. Can't wait to see him again, hopefully traveling to visit Uncle Patrick or something :)
Amos: If he didn't have and amazing girlfriend whom I love and adore I would be all over his ass. He dances sexy and I know he talks a little dirty, but it's with the style I'm used to. We're pretty good friends, and we had the most fun last dance of the weekend. It was a really slow song and we got bored fast, so we started doing crazy things and probably spent half the song cracking up at ourselves and how awesome we are. At the very end I stuck my butt out in a weird way for fun, but it turns out he lead it, so it was just perfect. If only he wasn't dating Lauren...sigh.
Also, I had a great dance with Mary to Tracy Chapman's Stand By Me, which is such a beautiful song. She was a wreck all weekend because of assface Wes, but she was so strong too.
Also, the band that played the second night totally rocked everybody's socks off. Adin and I bought both of their CDs and I can't stop listening to them. They are called the Shuffletones. My favorite song is about dying while fishing by a lake and it's perfect. LOVE.
Ok, that's all I can say about last weekend, it's so far away now. Sadness. Anyways, can't wait for the Austin Blues Party in July!!!!!
