as usual.
Dude. I love that place so very much. All of it. From eastern plains to western adobe dunes to, of course, the top of the rockies and everything in between.
we're going back in October again. I'm really glad I made the decision to start seeing my parents twice a year. As crazy as my mother makes me, and as insane as their sniping *conversations* are .. I do love them.
And I want to live there. Soooooooooooo badly. *craves* I just have to figure out how to make it happen!
We took the dogs with us. Gabriel was his usual stoic self. Great in the car, good in the hotels, fantastic at my parents. Sariel? well ... she'll get better. I hope. She is only 6 months old, heh. The first day she refused to go potty. At all. Was terribly depressed in the car (although she never got sick), she sank into the deepest corner she could find and stared at the backs of our heads. She finally gave up and pottied on the second morning as Lisa was showering and I was taking them both for a walk. After that she did a little better.
Miss Sariel at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument.
Roadside Flamingos! and a rooster ...
Playing in the snow drifts on the Grand Mesa!
And back in Kansas, land of the weird. A huge Van Gogh painting in Goodland, KS
So yeah, we had a wonderful time. Went to a drive in and saw Green Lantern and Source Code. And a thousand billion stars in the sky above us. Went to a dog park in Grand Junction, visited the Colorado National Monument and the Black Canyon. Spent a day fishing - didn't get a single bite but it didn't matter one bit. It was lovely. It was gorgeous. It was heaven.
It was vacation!
And I'll be back in October, Colorado! Love you!
;)
