I've never had just food do it. It's always been the time, the place, and the person I was with.

Having said that, I once had tomato/basil soup in a bookstore in Nashville just before seeing Garrison Keillor at the old Ryman; and four years before that, I had a variety of meals with the same good friend in D.C. on spring break from law school, with the same woman. It's the joy of her company, and she's been involved in family dramas for about six years now. I never get to see her, but she was my greatest friend in law school.

I'm just gonna have to come to Leavenworth and eat BBQ one weekend.

Kansas City International. MCI for code.

About twenty minutes from my house.

And what did I say about not teasing me?

Oh. The description of the sushi meal. Perfect! Thank you!

but it's also the company that makes the meal

And yes, I've found that to be true all day. Although not in all cases, but most.

Thanks again for such a delicious reply.

::tight, warm hugs::

Ohh, food porn! Food porn!

There's nothing that will ever, ever beat my grandmother's roast dinners. Nothing quite like it in the world.
Roasted potatoes so good you can't jeat eat a few, you have to eat half the pan, hot from the oven and sweet and salty from the meat juices, crispy outside even while the middles have fallen into whisper-soft mush...
And some weird concotion of minced beef and rich, dark gravy with soft, heavy and undeniably incorrect yorkshire pudding that somehow is all the better for being completely, totally and utterly WRONG...

That was food that never needed a time, place or context to make it orgasmic. It just WAS.
Heavy and bursting with fat and salt and all the things that are so, so bad for you, but that taste so, so good... *gah*

I've dedicated yeeears to trying to recapture her roast potato magic... still working on it, but I';m getting there... ;)

French Onion Soup in a tiny cafe surrounded by art galleries on a hill in Paris with good friends. Ironically, down the hill from it was the Red Light District.

Was it in a red house on a corner? Called Restaurant d'Ambassade or something like that?

In 1991 I went there with two friends and they had a three meal offer. Onion soup, chicken and then ice cream.

1997 I went there with hubby. They had exactly the same offer, except hubby got rabbit instead of the chicken. Still talks about it as the best meat he's had.

To tell you the truth, I don't remember what it was called. But it sounds like that, and I do remember it being in a red building.
