Sigh. This was going to be a big rant about the evils of retail and the virtues of teaching and why we should all just sit in a circle and play our recorders and abandon our current economic system in favor of sheep trading... but it just ended up being whiney, so I deleted it. I think bitching to Jon for an hour during our post-work Taco Bell run was sufficient for one night. So. Moving on.
I saw my aunt and uncle and four cousins (missionaries in Khazakstan) today for the first time in... well, 7 months for my aunt and littlest cousin, because they came for my grandpa's funeral, but two years for the rest of them. Kids sure do grow fast when you don't see them for a long time. I really only see any of them for a month every three years or so (their visit was early this time around because my grandma's still going through a hard time without my grandpa). When they left the first time, there were three girls ages 6, 4, and 1... now there are four girls ages 16, 14, 11, and 8. They're all really sweet and I wish I'd gotten to spend more time with them growing up, but it's still nice to see them every so often. I never really had one of those big families where you hang out all the time with all the aunts and uncles and cousins (although I tend to adopt myself into my friends' familes who are like that), but it is definitely something I want my own kids to have someday.
What else. Last night Jon took me to a few little "places he knows" :) ... one being an Italian imports store/deli/gelateria in Orland Park for some granita (ended up being closed, but the thought was there, and we did end up at Teddy's for Italian ice), the other being this really pretty forest trail nearby where we took a walk and ended up at a trout farm (a very pretty trout farm). So that all was very very fun, kinda one of those nights that you want to put in your pocket and keep with you if that makes any sense.
Tomorrow we are making cheeseburgers. We'll see how that goes.
Sigh. It's like 3:45 am now. Bad Gina for having a great big Moutnain Dew Baja Blast at Taco Bell after work. I knew I'd be up all night.
