Hem- "Half Acre"

A musical recommendation for all you wonderful people. :) Or perhaps less of a recommendation and more of a requirement?

I don't know. So if you watch TV, this song plays in a commercial where people are doing good deeds for each other... its a commercial  for insurance or a bank or something. I don't know. But the song really intrigued me, so I tried to catch as many lyrics as I could and Google them, and I came up with this. Personally I think the song is gorgeous. For whatever reason, I teared up the first few times I listened to it after just the first line. This may or may not happen to you, but ya know how some songs just "do it" for you? I guess this one does it for me.

I bought the song on iTunes and have been listening to the 30 second snippets of the other songs on the CD, and it's very intriguing overall (I'm considering purchasing the CD... for $9.99, it's tempting indeed). Sort of folksy American, introspective, mellow.... I don't know, it's interesting. So if you're looking to "feed iTunes" as Claire puts it, I'd recommend this group and this song in particular. :)

In other news... today ended up being way longer than I expected... woke up at 5, couldn't fall back asleep, finally got out of bed at 6:15, worked ISYM registration from 7:45-8:30, judged and placed 35 flute players from 9-12, babysat Keeble's kids from 12-1:30, got a phone call while Alex and Bryson were eating their ice cream asking me to come in to work, then worked 2-7:30. Phew.

Then came "Gina's Retarded Episode." It went like this: Come home from work. Tired, sore, hungry, etc. Park car, walk several blocks back to apartment. Realize phone is still in car. Put on comfier shoes and walk all the way back to car. Get to car, realize keys are in apartment. This means I can't get to my phone, nor can I get back in the apartment to get my keys. Not having my phone means I can't call Regis to see when she'll be home to let me in to get my keys. Have minor freak-out session--feel extremely naked without phone OR keys. Go upstairs to Jon's apartment to see if anyone's home so I can get my spare car key which lives in Jon's bedroom. No one is home. Knock in vain for about 10 more minutes, minorly freak out again. Finally end up walking to Blues and buying dinner since I hadn't really eaten much all day. Eat dinner, walk home... Regis still isn't home, but luckily Jenna across the hall is and she buzzes me in. Sit and relax. Still don't have phone. Finally muster the strength to retrieve phone about 4 hours later.

Other than that though, it was a good day. :)

Oh, and I've decided I'm going to try my hand at painting this summer. Like real painting, not paint-by-number. :) Because you don't know if you suck at something unless you try it, right?!
