summer update

Fun things that happened while Jon was visiting:

-Buying a mini Weber grill and having a BBQ of tasty burgers and s'mores on the lawn outside the apt building! Such a good idea--concluded that grilling is the best way ever to make dinner, and should be done more often.
-Going bowling with Dave--sucking as always, but what can ya do. More important was the fact that we got out alive after being engulfed by scary probably-gang-members on surrounding lanes. Way to find the most ghetto bowling alley ever, Dave. :)
-Eating dinner at Dos Reales.... mmm, fajita quesadillas.
-Seeing "Cars" with Jon and Regis and Ralph and Dave and Kevin-- such a good movie! The story is cute and the animation quality is truly amazing.  Go see it!
-Going to Kickapoo--fun as always! We went paddleboating on the snazziest paddleboat ever, had a nice picnic lunch under a tree, and went on a hike during which I almost stepped on a very scary, very large snake in the path. Thanks to Jon for pointing that one out to me, since we all know I'm not the most observant person ever. :)
-Having breakfast at a cute little breakfast place called Le Peep

And I'm sure there are other things too that I'm just not remembering at the moment (it's pretty late).

Hm, what else is interesting. I'm first chair in summer band... haha. It's cool though, I get to play the solos in Candide which I love love love. The downside is that I'm sitting next to this crazy lady who felt the need to tell me her life story within 5 minutes of meeting her. Oh, and we're a bit overloaded on patriotic muic... but eh, tis the season I guess, and band is band so I can't really complain. :)  We played through some of the show tunes for this coming MI season the other night, and they're actually pretty good. And I'm helping to write the drill for the Bon Jovie show too, which is fun. Lots of other little music-related odds and ends going on as well of course... arranging, judging, planning piccolo stuff... good times.

Soooo yeah, I think that's about it! I'm coming home for a few days next weekend, which is a "vacation" I'll probably need since our floors and the floors across the hall are being refinished this week, and that means a helluvalot of furniture moving. So... let the adventures begin!

Oh, and Regis and I made puppy chow tonight. Mmmm :)
