Needing some Names
So I went and got 2 green tiger barbs and an otocinclus algae eater yesterday...I just couldn't take it anymore, my Bate needed some swim mates, and I was getting a little bit of an algae problem that the snail was unable to keep up with.
So I need 2 names for the little green tiger barbs. Oto the algae eater will work for me.
I know barbs like to attack fins so I've been watching 'em like a hawk...one little nip at Bate's beautiful tail and they're gone! So far they're behaving and only chasing after each other...I think Bate scared em off his tail while they were acclimating in their bag....seriously, they give Bate his room! Of course he's now just over 2 inches head to tip of tail and they're only about an inch big.
Actually I'm having some problems feeding them, since they like the middle/bottom they don't really surface for food and if the food sits on the top Bate wants to eat it all, suggestions? they're skitterish right now so even if they are near the top when I try to feed them as soon as they see me near they run off, and Bate comes up expecting food. So right now I drop the food in and then blow on it to make it sink.
Little Oto has been swimming all around enjoying the algae feast, he even gives the barbs a run! I gotta remember to get some waffers though....there certainly isn't enough algae to sustain him for long.
Also since I know the barbs and Bate will eventually need a larger tank I'm starting to set a little money aside so that probably around Christmas or just at the beginning of 2008 I'll be able to get them a larger tank. Hopefully they won't need it sooner than that, but I'll provision to have the funds aside earlier...heck a new tank will probably be on the wish list! >3
