So this second job thing is a good thing I think. Not too hard just a little frustrating working with parents. Two hours a day is good. More then that would be torture. Getting home around 6:30 isn't so bad. Of course I haven't gone to Jazzercise in 3 weeks now.. so I need to work that back in. Ugh... I just dunno. The extra cash is nice... even if ( Read more... )

I am doing TSS work for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Basically I am a Therapeutic support staff person working on social skills, communication, and helping the family cope with having a child with autism. I am working twice a week now. I got reassigned because the family was constantly late or cancelling and started talking religion with me toooooooo much. I told them I am Jewish (b/c I did convert and all... but I left out the Pagan part... as we all know, it's less of a mainstream type of religion). Anyway, they are really nice people but they are Christians from Egypt and HATE Muslims because they have had really bad experiences with the Islamic dominated society of Egypt. It was toooooo much to hear all the time.

So, I start my new assignment on Monday at the home of three children, an 8 year old girl with Autism (whom I will be working with) and twin 4 year old boys (one of which has a dx of Autism as well.. he has his own TSS). Dad works a lot and Mom seems to have an anxiety issue. However, the BSC (Behavioral Support Councellor) my direct sup, is awesome. She is also a certified therapist. So it should be interesting. I think 5 hours a week is plenty.
