Time for another "It's been so long! There's no place like LiveJournal! I'll try to update more often!" posts! Haha. But all of those statements are true. And I really do miss this place.
I'm still lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom to my little guy. Most of the time I absolutely LOVE it! Sometimes...not so much. And I've been struggling with some mental health stuff, among other things. But I try to keep in mind that these days won't last forever, and we get by.
Now for the currentlys:
Watching: Bonobono, Transformers: Rescue Bots season 4, Orange is the New Black season 4
Haven't really had the time to get into much this season, but I came across Bonobono on Crunchyroll and gave it a try. It's one of those super cute and simple shows that you instantly just accept and love. The kiddo and I enjoy it together.
Still trying to find time to catch up with Dragonball Super by the way! Although I am aware of recent plot developments (*cough* Goku of a certain color *cough*)and am so hyped up and excited!!!
As for Rescue Bots, I think it's pretty clear WHY and for WHOSE SAKE I'm watching (looking at you, toddler son) but I really can't overstate how much this darn show has endeared itself to me. I'm INVESTED, now, goshdarnit. More on this show probably at some point in the future, so I can explain how I'm actually not crazy.
Only watched the first episode of the new season of OitNB, but it's looking wonderful as always.
Reading: Victory by Susan Cooper
The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper is one of my all-time favorite book series, and I recently started re-reading the five books in random order. You know you REALLY love a book series when you start looking for different editions just for the artwork. While searching, I realized I hadn't read much of Susan Cooper's other works, and hunted down a copy of Victory. I'm halfway through and while English history isn't much of my thing, I think it's great so far.
Playing: Super Meat Boy (again)
Back in 2010, I got hooked on this notoriously difficult game, and to this day it remains one of the few things that can make me curse loudly and frequently. I would transform into one of those characters that fanfic authors have to tag "language" for. I couldn't play it while I was pregnant, because it would honestly stress me out so much. I did manage to beat it way back when (only the Light World stages anyway) but now my son likes to play, so we started all over. He's actually very good at it! Can clear stages that some adults can't manage. But I still have to help now and then so hence my re-playing. Apparently Super Meat Boy has been released on the Wii U, but without the original music -- which is a huge shame, because the soundtrack is amazing! Still a great game, though, with exceptional attention to detail. When you're in a determined mood and dying 34782 times won't get you down too much, I highly recommend it!
Listening: nothing really at the moment
Arch Enemy. But other recs would be appreciated. I can't remember the last time I listened to a song on repeat...
Currently addicted to: finding good manga to read
A young relative of mine has recently gotten into manga and anime, and in lending her all my available manga, it made me realize how little I owned. Over the years of collecting, I've managed to not get bogged down collecting titles that I don't absolutely LOVE, but at the same time I feel that I'd like to branch out and find some new stuff both for her and myself. So I've been scouring ebay and other places like
garagesalejapan for some good series and some good deals, which is actually what brought me here to the update page.
It's getting really late now, though, so I better wrap it up. Hopefully I can attempt to wander through the friends list soon.
