*flamboyant anime guy engrish voice* my sweet honey!

Augh, a headahce...I haven't had one in a while, which was really nice. But then I took a nap and woke up with one and I hope it goes away by the morning.

My son has recently had the flu (two days after getting a flu shot darnit), and while he's a whole lot better now, his pesky wet cough doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. I'm worried, but the pediatrician said he should fine. He's been having a hard time sleeping (so of course that means we all are) but he's too young for cough medication, so I've been relying on a myriad of things that just aren't helping much. I mentioned this to an old friend of mine who reminded me of the old honey-and-lemon remedy to soothe coughs. It's really popular among Hispanic families, but my mom never made it for me and so I never really thought about it or learned how to make it.

She said it's better to use very local virgin honey with the comb still in it, so we headed out to the local flea market today to get some fresh New Mexico honey from a man who sells it there. It was pretty empty because of the unofficial national holiday Superbowl Sunday but thankfully he was there! He didn't have any with the comb, but I figured it would be okay. But then before bedtime, I realized I didn't actually know the recipe. After googling, I used this modified recipe:

Heat 8 oz. water on stovetop or microwave.
Stir in 1 teaspoon of local honey.
Stir in 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

While making it, I couldn't help but think of this sweet lady haha:

And it was SO DELICIOUS. How have I gone my whole life without this magical drink?! The kiddo didn't hate it, but he didn't guzzle it down like I had hoped, either. He eventually drank a fair amount and I really really hope it helps. He's doing better so far and I hope he stays that way.

To anyone who might read this: I seriously hope you try this honey-and-lemon drink whenever a cough or sore throat is getting you down. I'm 100% sure you won't regret it!
